ORAL SURGERY

Wisdom Teeth

Wisdom teeth are the last teeth to form as teens enter into adulthood and are located in the back of the jaw directly behind your second molars. The jaw is sometimes too small to accommodate for the four new wisdom teeth and an impacted tooth can occur as the teeth don’t have enough space in the mouth to grow properly. This results in an inability for the teeth to grow into the proper position for chewing and cleaning.

Sometimes teeth can no longer be restored because of advanced decay, fractures, or periodontal (gum) disease.
Dr. Hughes removes those teeth and replaces them with implants or a prosthesis (partial or denture). At Hughes Hoover Family Dentistry patients have the option of using conscious mild sedation and/or laughing gas for removal of wisdom teeth or non-restorable teeth.

We practice a full scope of oral surgical procedures.
